The Regional Spelling Bee is open to students in grades 3 through 8 who have excelled in their school and district spelling bee competitions. A member of the Oncourse Implementation Team during spring 1999, Fern served as a faculty liaison in this application development project to ensure faculty review and recommendations were included in the new release of Oncourse that became available to the University in July 1999 for fall semester classes ( ). Oncourse is an online course management environment, developed at IU, that allows faculty to post syllabi, grades and assignments so students can access their class information via the Internet.
